Description
Ficus religiosa MT cures many kinds of haemorrhages. Its bark is astringent and is used in gonorrhoea. Fruit is laxative. Its leaves and young shoot are purgative. Infusion of bark is given internally in scabies. According to Ayurvedic system of medicine, F. religiosa (Peepal tree) is well known to be useful in diabetes, which is now scientifically validated. Its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial and wound healing activities have been established.
