Cassia Sophora (Cassia Sophera) MT

In Indian medicine, its root is considered as expectorant; bark, leaves and seeds are cathartic. Leaves are anthelmintic and antiseptic. In homoeopathy, it is used for cough, constipation and rheumatic problems, but the provings on it, establishes it as a potential drug for many respiratory problems as well. Externally it may be useful in ringworm because of its chrysophanic acid contents. It needs clinical confirmation in skin problems. Alcoholic extract of the plant reported to be spasmodic; used internally in cough, externally in skin diseases. Reference 1. W.
