Description
Anacardium occidentale, commonly known as Cashew Nut, is a homoeopathic medicine prepared from the black juice found between the outer and inner shell of the kidney-shaped nut of the Anacardium occidentale tree, native to the West Indies and belonging to the Anacardiaceæ family. This medicine exerts a marked action on the skin, producing intense erysipelatous inflammation, blisters, and vesicular eruptions. It is especially useful as an antidote to Rhus poisoning, and in assisting ringworm, warts, ulcers, and corns. Like its botanical cousin Anacardium orientale, it also impacts the nervous system, producing mental weakness, loss of memory, and a general paralytic state. Characteristic skin symptoms and vesicles resembling small-pox eruptions further define its sphere of action.
